Definition of FAS Foetal Alcohol Syndrome is a Pattern of mental and physical defects that develop in a foetus during pregnancy in association with high level of Alcohol consumption during pregnancy. When pregnant women consume alcohol during pregnancy it is carried to all her organs and her tissues including the placenta. The placenta ‘s function is to protect the foetus and provide nourishment from the mother to the Foetus, Alcohol is able to cross the placenta membrane and it is the transported to all developing tissues of the foetus.
